Follow this guide to install and activate Microsoft Project 2024 Professional on your PC.
1. Remove older versions of Project
Before starting the installation, uninstall any older version of Microsoft Project on your PC (for example Project 2021, 2019 or 2016). This reduces the risk of errors during installation.
Uninstalling Project does not delete your project files.
2. Download Project 2024 Professional
Find your preferred language in the table below.
Click Download 64-bit or Download 32-bit. Most computers use 64-bit.
If your browser asks where to save the file, choose Save.
The file will be saved in your Downloads folder.

32-bit or 64-bit?
If Microsoft Office is already installed on your PC, choose the same version (32-bit or 64-bit) as your Office. Otherwise, choose 64-bit unless your Windows is 32-bit. See how to check your Windows version.
If your third-party antivirus is blocking the download or installation, this is normal behavior when downloading .exe files directly from a link. Click here to see how to temporarily turn off your antivirus.
Where is my Downloads folder?
Open File Explorer (yellow folder icon), click Downloads in the left-hand menu.
You can also press Windows key + E and then click Downloads.
3. Start the Installation
Open your Downloads folder.
Double-click the file you downloaded, for example project_2024_EN_64Bits.
If Windows asks for permission, click Yes.
If Microsoft Defender SmartScreen appears, click “More information”, then select “Run anyway” to continue. This is normal for .exe files downloaded from the internet.
Stay connected to the internet and wait until the installation finishes. Project is downloaded directly from Microsoft’s servers, so this may take some time.
When the installation is complete, click Close.

4. Activate Project 2024 Professional
Open Project. Tip: use Windows search or press Win + S to find it.
Click Account in the lower-left corner.
Click Change product key.
Enter your license key.
Close Project completely, wait a few seconds, and reopen Project.
Complete the activation wizard that appears and finish the setup.
In the activation wizard, choose to activate over the internet — do not select the phone option.
When the wizard finishes, close Project completely and open it one more time. Project should now be activated.

If you don't see the option to enter a product key:
Click "Choose another account".
Then select "Enter a product key instead".
If you don’t see the Account tab, click File first, then select Account. (After choosing File, you may need to click ‘More’ before selecting Account.)
Troubleshooting
If you run into problems during installation, check our Troubleshooting list before contacting support.
Make sure your internet connection is stable and no older versions of Project remain installed.
If Office is installed, make sure you downloaded the same version (32-bit or 64-bit) as your Office.
Check if a third-party antivirus is blocking the installation and disable it temporarily if needed.
If activation fails, check that you've entered the product key correctly and try again.

The installer we provide is a pre-configured setup file. It downloads Project 2024 Professional directly from Microsoft’s servers and makes the installation simple.
